Day Four

I feel pretty fantastic, although I'm not sure if I still have a little bit of yuckiness remaining or if I did actually pick up a bit of a cold bug while travelling. The elderberry capsules have helped a lot and I'm pretty sure the kombucha did too. May have to trade coffee for kombucha in the mornings!

Had scrambled eggs with avocado, blue cheese, bacon, mushrooms, and rainbow chard for breakfast with a little bit of kombucha. Wound up getting a case when I went to Whole Foods today (again), so am all set on that.

Made some granola with pecans, walnuts, cocoa powder, cinnamon, coconut, vanilla, and my new favorite thing. I found these whole, dried cacao beans at Whole Foods and they're awesome!! The one sweet thing I really want is chocolate, so I've been eating these and cooking with it instead.

Dinner was the crockpot pork shoulder that was in the 21 DSD sugar detox email, but I wound up making my own dry rub from cocoa powder, cayenne pepper, cumin, garlic, cinnamon, and pepper. It is super good, but I should have toned down the cayenne a bit.

Then I roasted baby carrots with ginger, garlic and olive oil and sauteed some rainbow chard with garlic, pepper, and mushrooms.

I also snacked on the last of the olives, a few raw baby carrots and a meatball. I seriously need to keep up with the drinking. I was feeling weird this afternoon, hungry when I shouldn't have been, and realized that I hadn't really had any water today. So I chugged a liter and made two cups of tea. I feel much better now.

At some point when I'm not tired and need to get up for the farmers market tomorrow morning, I want to put down some thoughts about paleo/primal lifestyles. But, for now, I found this really inspiring.

Four down, 27 to go!!
